So, you want to sell your yacht? ... We're here to help:

.Seacraft Yacht Sales was founded in 1984 to sell quaility yachts. 2007 is our 23rd anniversary and for these 23 years, buyers and sellers have been coming to Seacraft because we have developed a reputation for offering quality boats, delivering quaility services - before and after the sale and getting results.

We are dealers for Pacific Seacraft sailboats and Com-Pac sailboats. These boat lines are known worldwide for their quality and seaworthiness. If you have a cruising sailboat or trawler to sell, our docks are regularly visited by persons interested in these type boats. We have an extensive database of interested yacht purchasers and our docks are open 7 days a week.

Our location is a significant asset and should not be underestimated. Lake Union is the place that yacht buyers visit from all over the Northwest, Alaska and British Columbia. Buyers know that they can see a huge selection of boats on Lake Union and few will buy without taking a trip to the lake. Our location is convenient, has ample parking and is walking distance to the Freemont area shops and restaurants.

The owners of Seacraft - Max Heller and Tom Cooper, are active in the industry. Max has served on the Board of the Northwest Marine Trade Association and has served 2 terms as President of the Northwest Yacht Brokers Association. Both Max and Tom serve on the Government Affairs Committee and both are "Certified Professional Yacht Brokers". Our goal is to continually improve the yacht sales profession and continually improve our services to you.

If you have a cruising or live-aboard sailboat or trawler to sell, we would like to assist you in finding a new owner. Our brokers are experienced boaters, knowledgeable about yacht values and conduct themselves in a professional and ethical manner.

By listing your boat with Seacraft Yacht Sales, you receive:

1. A commitment by your broker and the entire Company to actively promote your boat, locally and worldwide.

2. A commitment from our Company to co-broker with other professional brokerages worldwide - greatly extending your boat's market.

3. An invitation to moor your boat at our sales docks at reasonable moorage rates. Included in this arrangement is periodic boat washing.

Seacraft is located on Lake Union, and receives high traffic from boat buyers. Our selling location should not be underestimated as Lake Union is the place that yacht buyers visit from all over the Northwest, Alaska and British Columbia. Buyers know that they can see a huge selection of boats to choose from on Lake Union and few will buy without at least taking one trip to the lake. (office and marina photo below)

4. In addition to advertising in boating magazines, Seacraft has developed during the last 23 years a huge database of customers. We also have two Internet sites that send buyers to our office through cyberspace.

5. Seacraft participates in the area's major boat shows. If you would like your boat in a boat show we can arrange it. Advance notice is required as the shows fill up fast.

6. An honest appraisal of your boat's condition and value, and valuable advice and assistance in getting your boat prepared for sale.

You never get a second chance ... to make a first impression!

Boats that sell for top dollar in the shortest amount of time are always presentable and ready for showing. Here is what you can do to help, so that you get the quickest sale for the most money.

Make your boat easily available at all times. The more showings you allow the faster the sale. It is highly recommended that your boat be located at Seacraft's docks, to maximize buyer traffic aboard your boat.

During the winter months, keep the heat on. A warm and dry boat is more inviting and encourages a potential buyer to stay longer.

Keep curtains open for a bright and cheery feeling.

Odors are powerful turn-offs. Boats that smell of animals, holding tanks, cigarettes, and especially diesel fumes are more difficult to sell than ones that have a clean and pleasant scent.

Always leave the boat neat and tidy. Remove as much excess personal gear as possible to facilitate access to storage spaces and to reduce clutter. Buyers like to make offers that include everything on the boat. Do not leave items you do not want to sell with the boat on the boat. Out of sight, out of mind!

Be sure all lockers, bilges, and engine compartments are sparkling clean!

Pricing is the Key!

Setting the asking price is perhaps the most important step of a successful and timely transaction. The right price is one that enables you to yield the highest net proceeds as a result of motivating the market to respond.

Seacraft's professional sales team will provide you with valuable information regarding similar boats, which have sold and are currently on the market. This market knowledge will then aid you in selecting the price, which best positions your boat on the market.

The Seacraft sales team's role is to assist you in accomplishing your goals. Overpricing stalls your plans. Remember that a qualified buyer will purchase the boat he perceives to be the best value among the selections available. Overpricing slows the sale and increases your costs of moorage, insurance, interest payments and maintenance - not to mention the opportunity cost of your money and credit being tied up and unusable for other purposes.

Communicate with your Broker

You know things about your boat that no one else knows. Exotic places it has traveled to ... famous people who have owned or used your boat ... features that are unique to your boat, and its custom installations of equipment.

You may also have promotional material that your broker cannot reproduce on his/her own. For example, should we use a photo of your boat at our dock taken in Seattle's usual winter weather, or should we use a photo of your boat cruising in the summer at the islands with everyone looking happy and suntanned? When you look at ads for boats that are in boating magazines, what do they look like? Please provide your broker with as many descriptions and sales tools as possible for promotion in magazines, on the Internet, at boat shows and at our docks.
